glyphosate

Glyphosate

Glyphosate is an herbicidal ingredient in commercial weed-killing products like Monsanto’s Roundup. It’s commonly found in corn, cereals, soybeans, grains, rice, and produce. The US EPA has accepted Monsanto’s claim that glyphosate is harmless to humans. This is false. Glyphosate is cytotoxic and genotoxic, and causes systemic inflammation and immunosuppression, and ultimately, chronic illness.
Glyphosate affects:
– hormonal pathways
– increases levels of oxidative stress and brain impairments
– gastrointestinal tract (gluten intolerance), and main cause of celiac disease
– obesity epidemic
– autism epidemic
– Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, infertility, depression, and cancer.
Glyphosate may also cause respiratory distress, dizziness, weakness, low blood pressure, skin irritation/rashes, food sensitivities, nutritional deficiencies (especially cobalamin, folate, and iron) and thyroid problems.

Reduce your exposure:
– Eat organic! This does not fully eliminate exposure, it reduces the amount of glyphosate the body is exposed to
– Wash produce thoroughly with  a mix of baking soda, vinegar, and water.
– Soak whole grains before cooking
– Look for lawn products and without glyphosate – (RoundUp)

phthalates

Phthalates

Phthalates, or “plasticizers” are chemicals that make plastics more durable, and also are used to dissolve other materials. Phthalates are in many products such as, vinyl flooring, lubricating oils, body care/cosmetics including soaps, shampoos and lotions. They have also been found in children’s toys!
There are serious adverse health effects from these chemicals when they enter the body:
– linked to ADHD, autism spectrum disorder (ASD), and cancer
– linked to Endometriosis, one of the common causes of infertility
– endocrine disrupters
Ways phthalates can enter the body:
– consuming foods/beverages packaged in phthalate-containing plastic
– cosmetic products absorbed through the skin
– through inhalation of wood finishes, flooring, paints, carpets, and printing

Reduce your exposure:
– read labels. DHEP and DiBP are both phthalates that are on ingredient lists/labels.
– look for products that say “phthalate-free.”
– if you still use a microwave, never use plastic containers

heavy metals

Heavy Metals

Chemicals and heavy metals are heavily intertwined with each other in the environment and in the body. Together, they work as a team to create harmful symptoms and continue to be difficult to naturally detox as they are commonly stored in the body’s fatty tissues. Mercury, lead, cadmium, arsenic, and aluminun are the most toxic heavy metals that affect the human body.
Heavy metals are used in:
– industrial
– agricultural
– pharmaceutical and domestic settings
Heavy metals are found in
– contaminated water
– medications
– pesticides
– processed foods
– dental amalgams
– animal products (especially big deepsea fish like tuna, shark, etc.).
Bioaccumulation (accumulation in the body) has toxic effects on a variety of body tissues and organs. They disrupt cellular functions and organs, and create debilitating symptoms including: muscle weakness, fatigue, neurological changes, depression, anxiety, ADHD, increased autism symptoms, nausea/vomiting, headaches, neuropathy, gastrointestinal issues, brain fog, kidney/liver damage, and cancer.

Reduce your exposure:
– use reverse osmosis water filtration or distilled water
– Go organic!
– Increase essential minerals know to help detoxification of heavy metals
– sweating – you can us an infrared sauna or exercise
– use aluminum-free deodorants
– soak/wash produce prior to eating.
– purchase non-GMO (genetically modified) food
– Use non-toxic methods for controlling pests/weeds in the home and/or garden.
