Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis (HTMA)

A WINDOW INTO THE CELLS

What is Hair Mineral Analysis (HTMA)?

Hair provides a unique, biopsy-type reading of metabolic activity and is used for testing because it’s a rapidly growing soft tissue of the body that can be sampled easily and safely.

Hair is a storage tissue that the body uses for getting rid of excessive amounts of toxic metals and other substances such as illegal drugs. Because it’s a storage tissue, hair is an excellent place to measure these substances.

HTMA measures the mineral content of a hair sample (remember, heavy metals are minerals only ‘heavier’ than what the body uses naturally for physiological functioning).

which is .The sampled hair, obtained by cutting the first inch and one-half of growth closest to the scalp, is prepared in a licensed clinical laboratory through a series of chemical and high temperature digestive procedures. Testing is then performed using highly sophisticated detection equipment and methods.

Why use a hair test for health?

The cells (tissues) of the body are the major site of metabolic activity, and the hair is a reflection of these storage sites for minerals. All body tissues, including hair, contain minerals which are deposited as the hair grows. Even though the hair itself is dead, the minerals remain.

A one and a half inch sample of hair cut close to the scalp provides information about the mineral activity that took place over the past three to four months, depending on the rate of hair growth. Mineral levels in the blood are kept relatively constant due to their importance in the control of the heart’s electrical charge, so the blood is the last place to show mineral depletion.

Trace Elements Laboratory

The test measures the mineral content of a hair sample, which is obtained by cutting the first inch and one-half of growth closest to the scalp at the nape of the neck.

The sampled hair is prepared in a licensed clinical laboratory through a series of chemical and high temperature digestive procedures.

Testing is then performed using highly sophisticated detection equipment and methods.

Since 1984 Trace Elements has been recognized internationally as a leading provider of HTMA laboratory services and nutritional metabolic products for doctors and health professionals of all specialties worldwide. Through exclusive distribution agreements and direct-client associations, Trace Elements serves health professionals exclusively in over 46 countries.

Exposure

It can’t be avoided, toxic heavy metals are everywhere in the environment, food and water. Priming your detox organs is key!

Watch Heavy Metal Detox Webinar Intensive below to see 5 detox organs and how they work.

Detection

Hair requires no special handling and advancements in technology have made HTMA cost-effective, accurate and reliable.

HTMA is like time lapse photography compared to a blood test which is like a snapshot.

Detoxification

If you are metal toxic you can actively detox at a pace that is best for your life. You have choices!

Once you know if your symptoms are due to heavy metals, detoxing them out of your body is positively life-changing!

Hair Analysis gives information about the following:

Metabolic rate
Stress levels
Immune system
Adrenal and thyroid glandular activity
Carbohydrate tolerance
Getting enough protein?
Energy levels
Tendency toward illness often years before it manifests
Mental and emotional conditions (anxiety, depression, phobias)

HEAVY METALS ACCUMULATE IN THE BODY

ALUMINUM

Aluminum inhibits important enzymes in the brain and  may also inhibit uptake of important chemicals by nerve cells, such as dopamine.
Aluminum can cause colic because it reduces intestinal activity.

ARSENIC

Several laboratories believe that arsenic is an essential element in small quantities although its functions are not clear. (May have to do with growth, and blood formation.)
Excess arsenic is an enzyme inhibitor and interferes folic acid.

CADMIUM

Cadmium levels in hair show good correlation with cadmium levels in the kidneys.
Cadmium damages many systems in the body including damaging nerve cells directly, severely inhibiting essential enzymes responsible for energy production, and hardening of the arteries.

LEAD

Enzymes associated with hemoglobin are inhibited by lead. Lead also increases the rate of destruction of red blood cells, resulting in fatigue. Lead can cause deficiency or bio-unavailability of calcium, zinc, manganese, copper, and iron.

MERCURY

Mercury inhibits the enzyme ATPase, which impairs energy production in all body cells.
Motor disturbances include changes in gait, and tremors. Other symptoms are headaches, rashes and emotional disturbances.

URANIUM

Symptoms of uranium poisoning vary depending on the amount of exposure. The more common symptoms include:
Nervous system problems
Osteoporosis
Cancer

Hair Analysis vs. Blood Analysis

→ Determining hair analysis minerals is like time lapse photography whereas blood is like a snapshot. Think of hair as a biopsy of the body’s tissue which contains the minerals incorporated during its development. This is why we do hair testing for health; to determine nutritional deficiencies.

→ Hair is a reflection of body storage sites (cells, tissues, organs) for minerals. Blood mineral levels are the last place to show depletion because the wisdom of the body keeps mineral levels in the blood controlled because these ‘electrolytes’ are so important to the heart’s electrical charge.

Electrolyte (mineral) levels in the blood are controlled at all costs to the rest of the body because of their importance to the heart’s electrical charge. HTMA shows depletion in the tissue storage sites early on.

→ Toxic metals will only remain in the blood for a matter of days after exposure due to their potential hazard. The body knows to store them away or sequester them wherever possible such as in the liver, kidneys or thyroid.

→ Since hair is used to excrete toxic metals, this is an excellent place to look for them even long after exposure.

→ While blood shows which minerals are being transported at the moment, where are they going? Hair is a storage tissue and is reflective of what is going on in other storage sites for minerals.

3 Easy Steps To Test Hair For Minerals (Heavy Metals)

A one and a half inch sample of hair cut close to the scalp provides information about the mineral/metal activity that took place over the past three to four months.

A hair kit and symptom sheet are sent to you. After preparing your hair sample you send it directly to the laboratory  using the envelope provided.

I email your copy of the report to you. The entire process takes approximately 3 weeks if mailing within the US and depending on postal zones and times
